Fiddler’s Greens – Sonoma County, California

When it comes to high-quality, sun-grown cannabis in Sonoma County, California, Fiddler’s Greens CEO and co-founder Shannon Hattan — alongside husband and fellow co-founder Cameron Hattan, who is also the COO — stand out. Don’t take it from me — take it from the multiple awards they’ve won. Fiddler’s Greens was Sonoma County’s first permitted cannabis farm, and with over a year of business under their belt and awards in hand, you would think everything would be smooth sailing; unfortunately, California state and Sonoma County — which have been seen as leaders in the national cannabis movement — don’t have an easy or timely pathway to licensing.

The People

Shannon Hattan is candid about the onslaught of the ever-changing dilemmas and issues canna-businesses face. When the Hattans began their company, Shannon thought she’d be spending her days farming. “Instead,” she says, “I’ve spent most of the last two years working on permitting and compliance. At the local level, we have county regulations to comply with for our farm and city regulations to comply with for our manufacturing and distribution. Additionally, we have three different state agencies working to regulate cannabis and writing the rules as we are trying to execute [them].” The permit process can be a slow one, but the Hattans work hard to ensure their products continue to reach those who need them.

The Product

Fiddler’s Greens’ sun-grown flower can be found in traditional nug form, as well as in pre-rolls, healing balms and tinctures. Said tinctures are all strain-specific and infused in organic extra virgin olive oil, with a focus on CBD:THC combos, as well as lesser-publicized cannabinoids like CBDA and THCA. “We want to create a space in the market where craft boutique heritage farmers are represented like [the] craft beer and craft wine [industries],” explains Cameron Hattan. “We want to change the conversation about sun-grown flower. When done in the right climate and the right soil by the right farmer, you see amazing products.”
